Houston TX - Home

Well I am back in Houston once again. Made it just in time for dinner.
Before going home I stopped in at the H. B. Steakhouse.

Tomorrow I have to check what been happening since I was gone. Then I
will have to checkup on two plants to see where we stand with the
master radio system. Then, I have another new one to add to my list.
That will make 3 new master radio systems to been installed this
summer.

Well time to eat now. So maybe more later.

Mammoth Caves

6.5 hours later I see sun light! It was an awesome tour!

Now on the road! more later.

Monday plan

Well I am on my return to Houston. Spent all the time I could in
Canada for this trip. Been to Sarnia and Windsor Ontario Canada for
the weekend and right now I am in Troy Ohio. I am looking at making
two stops tomorrow, Mammoth Caves and the Corvette Museum.after that I
will head back for Houston.

Sarnia - All day Saturday

Stayed up late last night. Could not sleep. So did not get op as early
as I wanted to. Got breakfast and headed back to the area of Rainbow
Cottages and on the way I found the hairdresser/ Barber shop that my
father asked it I could find in the phone book, it was not listed in
the phone book, but it was here. No one was there, they had gone
fishing and will be back Tuesday. So went to the dress shop neat door
and got a phone number for mum and dad.

Now heading of to where I had an idea where the cottages should be, I
stopped and spoke to a local home owner. He pointed out that there was
still 4 or 5 cottages still here and I saw that they must have been
about 3 houses down from where I was.

I went to the near by park and parked my truck there, got the Segway
out and started looking for a trail back over the bridge and to where
the cottages should be. After a few minutes on the Segway, I found
what was left of the cottages. Met one of the residents of the cottage
and spoke to them a little about the place and area. Like most people
they wanted to know more about the Sagwey, so I gave them a demo, and
the 2 little girls loved it!

By now I had done what I had set out to do, and headed back to the
bound, Blue Water Bridge. Today was the Mackinac sail boat race and
there where hundreds of sailboats on the lake I so I stopped and
watched for a little bit. Then I got a phone call from Mary Lloyd,
and I went to see her, old trends of the family back when we lived
here.

Spoke to her for a bit, meet her brother John, and then went out to
eat. After getting back, her daughter-in-law, Barney came by and I
showed them some of the photos I have taken on my trips. And after
that, I gave them a demo of the Segway and they loved it. After Barney
left Mary showed me some old home movies of theirs when we where at
their place back in Dec 68. Watched the 11 O'clock new and headed out.
Took a few night time photos of the Blue Water Bridge and then headed
over it. Drove down to Detroit and stepping in Holiday Inn Express for
the night.

Woke up to the smell of cigarette smoke from some one in the hallway
out side my room. I must have needed a good rest, because by now it
was almost 11 am.

We now have heavy rain and I need to head out.

Sarnia Ontario Canada

Friday I spent most of the day waiting around on co-worker at the
Hamilton plant. finally by 13:30 we left and went for lunch. Found a
fish and chip restaurant in Burlington and then it was 15:00. Went and
meet up with David from the band "The Kings" before heading west. I
wanted to stop by the Steam museum back in Hamilton but by the time I
got there it was 17:00 and they where closed. So much for that.

Headed west on the 403 until it ran into the 401, then I picked up the
402 and ended up in Sarnia. The traffic for a Friday afternoon was
lite and the 150 miles from Hamilton to Sarnia was not to bad or long
for being weekend traffic. Once in Sarnia or really Brights Grove, I
looked for the Rainbow Cottages, but I found out they where gone after
talking to some local people who live here. I found my old school
after asking where was there a school that was on the lake, and since
there was only one around here, I found it, it was like I remembered.
Funny thing, when I started looking for the Rainbow Cottages, I
started one the beach road less then a half mile from where there once
where.

The cottage and the school where located in Brights Grove which is now
a bunch of very nice expense homes and seems to be known as a very
nice area or maybe I should say high dollar area.

In the morning I plan to check the area out and get some pictures then
head for Windsor and over the bridge.

Niagara Falls

Today was just another day at the plant. Had lunch on some street called "Hess" and ate of a nice looking place outdoors, but service was slow, and made for a long lunch break. Heading back to the plant and completed training there. That evening we went shopping or a router and then headed back to Hess ST for dinner. This time we picked a place that looked like service was going well. Well, poor girl had a large party to tend with and us. Our service at lunch was bad also, and we did not count and getting just as bad service for dinner at this out place. Well, we where wrong, it was even slower.

 

After that, Sultan and I headed out for Niagara Falls for the evening. Took some great photos and they have been posted.
 

Hamilton - Tuesday

Was at the plant most of the day, went to lunch at some little Polish place. Then later took a trip down to Toronto's airport to pick up a co-worker who landed at 4PM, nice airport, found my co-worker and headed back to Hamilton. Traffic as slow getting out of Toronto and we finally made it to the hotel. We all headed out to Outback for dinner and then went shopping for some parts that we didn't find.

 

So, not much of day to talk about.

Hamilton plant

My job here at the plant went in smooth. Now just got to wait to make
sure the software configuration is completed and working. Then I will
soon be heading back home. So, a day here tomorrow, the Wednesday I
maybe heading home.

Mainway Recording Studio

Sunday, spent the afternoon and evening at Atilla's studio while he
edited more soundtracks for a new band called North of Hollywood. And
later that evening the band members of NOH came down to pick up the
edited sound tracks. I also entertained the band members on the Segway
while Atilla was still working on the audio mixing for them. It is
surprising as to how much time goes into one 2 1/2 minute song.
