Well Stinger Accessories has made some "Hood Snubbers" and gets rid of the squeak without the need of the grease. And they work very well as they are manufactured out of urethane.
For the installation on my 93 Hummer it was not as easy as it is for the 94's and newer Hummers. The 93 & older Hummers did not use nut rivets on the body to mount the rubber hood stops. There is a nut inside the foot well and requires two persons to install the drivers side one. But the passenger side is a real problem if you have A/C because the A/C unit covers up one of the nut used to mount the rubber pad with. So I drilled the bolts out (even the drivers side) and installed 1/4 inch nut rivets.
The left photo is one of the new side snubbers after I drilled the 1/2" hole in place of the 1/4" normally used. Originally the metal spacers where used in the rubber hood stops and I removed them and drilled a 1/2 hole in the new Hood Snubber to help from the pressure of the bolts and to re-in-force the nut rivets from pulling out. The original spacers had to be cut down a little before inserting in the new Snubbers.
