The ladder will hook on either side of the truck or the rear. And for storage of the ladder you can leave it on the rear using a bunge cord to hold it down in place. If you have the tailgate rear, you must move the ladder each time to open the tailgate, if you have the ambulance type doors, you can still open your main door without moving the ladder. I wish they made some type of hinge so that it would just swing out of the way.
The rack and ladder is made of square steel tubes and comes apart with the longest piece being about 6 feet long.
Stinger Accessories also makes a roof rack that is made
from round steel tubing with aluminum channel floor. The rack is a one
piece, all welded frame and will sit 1/2 to 1 inch above the roof.
This rack is the lowest rack that I know of that also makes the total height
of the Hummer under 7 feet, and will fit most garages. Other option
to this rack is a tent for 2 adults, that can be setup with in a minute.

During my outings, I tie down the ladder up in the rack
itself so that I do not knock it off when climbing or dropping into sizable
holes.
